Bailey Final Project Idea

    • For my final project I want to address how people are quick to believe anything they see on the internet (conspiracies) and how quick certain posts can become viral. The example I want to use is the fake Facebook hacking chain messages that people send to one another. The message that is going around now is: “Hi....I actually got another friend request from you which I ignored so you may want to check your account. Hold your finger on the message until the forward button appears...then hit forward and all the people you want to forward too....I had to do the people individually. PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT A NEW friendship FROM ME AT THIS TIME.”
    • People are afraid of their accounts being hacked, so even if they didn't receive a friend request from you they still forward the message. The truth is, is that someone just made up this post with the intention to go viral. 
    • I want the webpage to have the facebook blue background and have a single post that someone shared with this viral message. When you hover over it I want more posts to pop up from different people. Soon the entire page will be filled up with these posts about the "hacking."

Ideas for Project 1: What does the future hold? I want to focus on the advancements of technology and how it is going to shape the future. The ultimate goal is to make technology as useful to humanity as possible, but what happens if we inadvertently become completely reliant on technology. My project would look at how technology has advanced over time, what advancements are coming and how they are/are going to affect society. We already are seeing new generations developing addictions and dependency on the technology around them. I want to look at the pros and cons of becoming a world that has integrated technology into every aspect of life.
